1) Whole families in prison. Lots of em.
In the town of Bristol England in the late 1600's there were over
500 FAMILIES .. in PRISON..
not individuals. families. why? The Church of England did not allow
'un-sanctioned' meetings, baptism, or 'commentaries'.
Many of these families were motivated by a man named George Fox, to live as 'friends of God'
The 'truth-speaking' did not just come from George Fox's need to 'speak - out'
..this truth-speaking came right from the Spirit of the 'EMPOWERED ONE' (Messiah) the son of God -in the man.
These folks referred to themselves as the 'Religious Society of Friends'
Publicly these folks were referred to as 'Quakers' as well as 'FRIENDS'.
2)George Fox
A truly major part of the MOVE to the new world for 'freedom to worship'.
This George Fox guy inspired William Penn, 'rich merchant' to a living, ACTIVE confidence (faith) in God and 'Christ Jesus'
( George and William both undrestood Jesus as "Prince of Peace who demands NO killing or selfishness among his followers, who gives 'the gift' of his own Spirit in order that he might speak through ordinary people for the outcome of lovingkindness towards all, righteous living and all sorts of life-guidance.)
George Fox was not 'against'' the Church of England. Why not?
Because he respected that they truly carried the words andthe worship to the people.
He was upset that what was carried was INCOMPLETE.
He chose to be a VOICE. He carried real understanding, and chose to VOICE that understanding.
He just knew the instruction of Yeshua-Jesus
and the real presence of the invisible Person referred to as The HolySpirit, or the Spirit of Yhvh, Spirit of Truth.
George was intensely motivated. He went about the work of helping peoples be MORE spiritually alive!
..assisting with their understanding of the words of 'Christ' which were offered in Latin primarily at that time.
Assisting with putting the wisdom in the COMMON LANGUAGE was part of his work in public places
and homes.
He gathered meetings of people devoted to the Messiah.
He taught about Jesus the anonted one, who gives POWER and life and a voice to his disciples.
George Fox cared first about the powerful God-man, suffering servant of all human minds and souls.
He was not as concerned about church politics and government activities.
George Fox gathered meetings.
In those meetings Yeshua-Jesus was honored.
In those meetings the Christ was worshipped in song.
in those meetings the challenging instructions from 'the writings' were offered in clear and helpful terms.
(the writings George Fox used are the 'bible' which is truly THREE SETS of writings, from three 'spirit-times'.
*) the writings that hold the predictions and preparations for 'the empowered one' Messah. /"Hebrew scriptures'.
*)the four 'accounts' of the life and teachings of Messiah Yeshua(Jesus) "Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John."
*) the accounts of the lives of the first ordinary PEOPLES, led directly and personally by the Spirit of Messiah-Jesus
(Yeshua -Jesus had transferred his supernatural powers to those first peoples, they were healing, teaching wisdom,
and showing power over troubling spirits; they were courageous, heavily opposed and persecuted, people guided by the Spirit of eternal Truth,
HolySpirit, Spirit of Yeshua; the crucified, resurrected one.)
In those meetings George Fox began to gather, the invisible Person of the HolySpirit was WELCOMED.
The Holy Spirit is ready to speak through each person in some way as they gather in worship of the Son of God.
This was an improvement over the 'talking head' of the 'roman forum' type of church gathering that was in place
and 'enforced' at that time.

when George Fox STOOD UP AND SPOKE OUT
in the midst of a church of england meeting, he was dragged off and HANGED.
AND he survived. George Fox SURVIVED HANGING. seriously.

3) What is a 'QUAKER" ??
George Fox declared that we should all be humble and not prideful.
He declared that we should be concerned about our 'human pride' which is truly adversarial to a real God-Spirit.
He said we should "QUAKE" AND TREMBLE and be super-humble before the SPIRIT-God who evaluates all.
THIS is why they were originally called Quakers. Some say that they are called 'Quakers' because they 'quake and tremble' when it is time for them to stand and speak what the Holy Spirit has placed on their hearts. In the writings i

On Hearing Fox speak, she writes;
"And so he went on, and said, 'That Christ was the Light of the world, and lighteth every man that cometh into the world; and that by this light they might be gathered to God,' I stood up in my pew, and wondered at his doctrine, for I had never heard such before. And then he went on, and opened the scriptures, and said, 'The scriptures were the prophets' words, and Christ's and the apostles' words, and what, as they spoke, they enjoyed and possessed, and had it from the Lord': and said, 'Then what had any to do with the scriptures, but as they came to the Spirit that gave them forth? You will say, "Christ saith this, and the apostles say this," but what canst thou say? Art thou a child of the Light, and hast thou walked in the Light, and what thou speakest, is it inwardly from God?'. Friends of Messiah Yeshua. "Quakers"

"Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written,
'For your sake we are being killed
all day long;
we are accounted as sheep to be slaughtered.'
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

This weekend, I had the honor of attending a weekend at the Young Friends of North America (YFNA) reunion, in Barnsville, Ohio, where several dozen Friends gathered to remember their experiences as young adult Friends as a part of the YFNA, as well as to look toward a future revitalization of the North American young Friends movement. This gathering, as of this writing, is still taking place, and will be continuing until the end of the week. I speak to my experience of what I took part in between Friday evening and early Sunday afternoon. During the weekend, there were two primary focuses that were programmed into the gathering: Celebration of the past YFNA movement, and a chance for current young adult Friends to meet together and discern the will of the Spirit for us as Quaker youth. It was in this context that the Risen Christ created space for the power of the Holy Spirit to be felt amongst us and to guide our gathering to dare to speak aloud our greatest hope and to be broken open to our tenderest wounds. In addition to the twin roles of this gathering as a place for YFNA nostalgia and discernment of way forward for North American young Friends, the Holy Spirit gave us two additional, complimentary charges this weekend: We were called into radical discipleship in the Way of Christ Jesus, and we were moved to wrestle with how the Holy Spirit is leading us into integrity in our sexuality.
On Friday evening, during our first group session, there were in attendance mostly older YFNA "alumni" as well as a dozen or so current young adult Friends. After spending a full hour and a half on introductions, the evening was moseying along primarily as an opportunity for the older folks to indulge in a fair bit of nostalgia. However, about two hours into the meeting, an older Friend from Ireland stood up. This drew our attention immediately, as everyone previously had been speaking from their seats. This Friend, thanks be to God, called us out of a secular trip down memory lane and heralded the arrival of the Holy Spirit in our midst. His message seemed really out of place in the flow of the previous conversation that Friends had been engaged in - which, in that context, seemed like a good sign that his ministry was indeed from God. Friend spoke about the growing tide of darkness in our world and our need to stand up and take seriously the implications of following Jesus, though it be unto imprisonment or death. This message, accompanied by a covering by the Holy Spirit, led the group into a half an hour of open worship, out of which more ministry was given.
On Saturday morning, we broke into small groups, and most of us used that small group time to share about our own experience as being (or having once been) both young Friends and sexual beings. How does God call us to live our sexuality? What romantic and sexual practice leads to more abundant life and which ways of living lead to death? Many Friends felt that they and others had not received the guidance, support, care, and discipline that they needed from their community, which led to much suffering in many cases. While we certainly did not come to unity on any particular vision for Quaker sexuality, there was general feeling that the serious consideration of a "Christian sexual ethics for the 21st century" would be a positive step forward in strengthening our community.
By the end of the weekend, one Friend felt strongly enough about the past mistakes of her own young Friends community that she felt led to write a minute apologizing for the hurt that the unfaithful sexuality of some Friends caused in her generation. While the larger group was not in unity to approve the minute as a corporate statement, the fact that such a document was written by an individual and presented to the group is an indication of the seriousness with which Friends are taking the question of sexual ethics. I was very pleased to see this kind of serious engagement of sexuality on the part of Friends in Barnsville this weekend. If all Friends were opening themselves up to the admonishing and healing power of the Light as Friends were this weekend in Barnsville, our religious society would be far closer to living the kingdom-life in our romantic relationships.
I must admit that the aspect of this gathering that most surprised me was the amount of Christian language that I heard from so many Friends, accompanied by a deep Quaker understanding of the centrality of the Risen Christ in our midst. At the risk of unfairly maligning some of my brothers and sisters: I did not expect this from liberal-unprogrammed Friends. I know that a small gathering cannot speak for an entire branch of Quakerism, but I must say that the liberal-unprogrammed branch does indeed have its fair share of grounded, weighty - and Christian - Friends! I do think, however, that the Spirit had to make some moves, so to speak, before that reality was able to come to the surface. Two Friends in particular, as I recall, were instrumental in creating a safe space for overtly Christian language - and, in that space, a fellowship blossomed that felt far closer to the radical, Spirit-led Christianity of early Friends than I ever expected to find. I give praise to God for that.
I also praise God for the opportunity that I was given this weekend to experience more deeply the reality that I am not a lone individual, nor even a member solely of my own generation. I am an extension of my parents, and they are an extension of me; my generation is an extension of past generations, and they are extensions of us. When one of us lives in that Life and Power, it affects us all. When one generation sins, it affects all generations. We are not individuals. I am thee, Friend, and thee is me. Our faithfulness or lack thereof resonates between us, yes, throughout the entire Church. We are not individuals, not even family. No, we are something different, something more. We are the Body of Christ. We are the Children of the Light.

i look over my little life. i enjoy you immensely. i feel your hugeness and your vast power and your MIND that is beyond comprehension. I thank you for helping me talk with my fingers. this is nice to flow out to you with the "eye gates ' closed. no sound and the words and expressions in me being recorded so that perhaps someone somewhere can 'look in ' on my life with you. my conversation with you.
You know my hurt. You nkow that i am ready to find myself ruined for etertity. You know that i have tasted the peace and sweetness of yeshua-love and His help and presence. AND THEN i have gone back to thosese ways and practices and those words and those choices that are of THE WAY OF DEATH.
You saw my soul be gripped with horror and sadness when i truly and TOTALLY saw my life from your perspective. All the 'pleasure games' no longer 'nice' and 'friendly' but a filthy horror and a self destructive way that is just ruinous.
You are the one who took away my 'fantasy-mind' and washed away all the images and scenes and stories that once gripped me. Those scenes that i escaped into.
You saw me transfixed with shock at my awareness of having made a vow to be with the woman named Christine until one of us died. A vow BEFORE YOU. You who are a real PERSON. just invisible with powers that are vast and HUGE beyond my imagining. I made a vow before YOU, to be with her body as long as our two bodies last.
You have seen me be INEFFECTIVE at retaining this 'concern' and this focus. You have seen me lose my attention/focus/fear of your 'POTENTIAL DISPLEASURE' at my behavior.
and You have seen my inability to create a 'family and friends' environment where we are all of 'ONE MIND AND ONE ACCORD-AGREEMENT' about what is right/wrong wise/foolish 'way ofLIFE' /way of DEATH.
You have seen my failures and my weak moves and my GOOD INTENTIONS.
we tend to judge others by their ACTIONS and we tend to judge ourselves by our INTENTIONS.
SO i reverse that and say i AM ...........DESTROYED, because of my actions.
and OTHERS deserve mercy because they have been ignorant of your REAL PRESENCE.
..THEY just intended to 'do right' but have found that failure has arisen due to their actions.
you last forever and i last only for a little while. You look over vast numbers of lives that have come and gone .
i look over my little life. i enjoy you immensely. i feel your hugeness and your vast power and your MIND that is beyond comprehension. I thank you for helping me talk with my fingers. this is nice to flow out to you with the "eye gates ' closed. no sound and the words and expressions in me being recorded so that perhaps someone somewhere can 'look in ' on my life with you. my conversation with you.
